How To Fix A Reverse Pivot In The Golf Swing – Sports – Golf

21313009136_9may858.jpgA reverse pivot is an issue many amateur golfers struggle with. Basically, a reverse pivot results in an incorrect weight shift. On the backswing, the weight is moving to the left or front foot when it really should be shifting to the back foot. This causes the weight to move to the back foot on the downswing incorrectly. Your weight needs to be moving forward on the downswing so power can be transferred to the golf ball at impact. When the weight shifts back in the backswing, the golfer is loading up potential power which can then be used in the downswing.

When you throw a baseball, you step forward and your weight shifts to your front foot. The weight transfer allows you to throw the ball farther. The same principle applies to the golf swing. When your weight moves to your front foot on the downswing, more power can be applied and you can hit the ball farther. You wouldn’t hang back to throw a baseball so don’t let your body fall backwards as you are trying to hit the golf ball forward. The body needs to moving in the direction you are trying to hit the ball.

In order to fix a reverse pivot, it’s important to have an understanding of what it actually is. Simply moving forward on the backswing and backwards on the downswing is the problem associated with a reverse pivot. This problem will often cause an early release with the hands and wrists. This additional problem of an early release can lead to all kinds of errant golf shots. To hit the ball solidly, a golfer needs to be moving forward on the downswing while maintaining a good wrist set all the way up until the ball has been hit. The hands should be slightly ahead of the club head at impact which will allow for solid contact and better golf shots. This can only occur when the weight is moving forward and not backwards.

In the backswing, you want to swing the club back and allow your weight to shift to the inside part of your right foot. It’s important to get your weight moving right but you don’t want to move too far laterally either. When you swing the club back and turn properly, your weight will naturally be able to shift into the right foot. This is how you become loaded up into a powerful position at the top of the backswing.

Once you have shifted your weight correctly to the back foot on the backswing, it’s much easier to get your weight moving forward on your downswing. The golf club should always lead your body on both the backswing and the downswing. You take the club back and then turn your body while transferring your weight in the direction the club is moving. The weight goes back when you swing the club back, and the weight moves forward when you swing the golf club forward. Focus on making a better turn and weight shift and eliminate a reverse pivot and the problems that come from it.

How Hit A Golf Ball On The Driving Range And Look Like You Know What You Are Doing

11313009136_img-0141.jpgLike most men, I love to go the the Range and hit a bucket of golf balls. I usually bring my six year old son and we have a blast together. I don’t get to actually play golf too much, but I love it. Life is too busy for me right now to spend everyday on the golf course. You might be like this too. You love golf, but you don’t have the time or money to play. What if the guys decide to invite you to go to the range or play a game of golf. Maybe you should at least look like you know what you are doing.
If you play golf at all, you surely know how to hold the golf club. You hold your hands intertwined. Like you are shaking hands with yourself, but the golf club is in the middle of your hands. I’m told, I hold my golf clubs like a baseball bat. I take this as a compliment even if it is not meant in the same way I take it. Each of you will have your own style when it comes to both holding and swinging the golf clubs. This is fine. I don’t want to change your swing (i’m not a golf pro) I want to teach you how to look good.
Ok, so now you’re ready. Buy yourselves a bucket of golf balls and walk down to the tees. If you are around other men who are talking up their golf games, don’t worry. They usually talk because they are just like you and I. They are amateurs who just want to be like Tiger Woods. Walk up to the tee and take a few practice swings. I walk up like i’m going to the plate at the bottom of the ninth and I have to hit it out of the park for my team to win. I played a bunch of baseball and softball. I’m nearly forty six, but still I have that home run swing. You know that upper cut swing that’s going to kill you in golf.
It’s time to try out my tips. Walk up to the tee and put a golf ball on it. Stand with your club in your hands. I usually make sure I stand where the middle of my body is even with the golf ball. You can stand how you like, but i’m telling you, this really works. Just like in baseball, always keep your eyes on the ball. If you keep your eyes on the ball (at all times) you are going to hit that golf ball. I almost guarantee it. Do not swing your body to the left or the right when you swing the club. If you do, your golf ball will (most likely) go to the left or the right when you hit it. Keep your arms straight and pull the club back. Did you keep your eyes on the ball? If you didn’t, you are going to miss that golf ball. Your friends are going to snicker at you and you are going to sweat. I guarantee this too.
Ok, so you are ready to hit the ball. When you swing your club, do these three things. Keep your eye on the ball. Use your legs for mostly strength and a good foundation. They stay on the ground, so they are not one of the three things. When you swing the club, keep your eyes on the golf ball, move your hips forward slightly as you swing, keep the club down and straight, swing through with your arms, hips, legs all together and all straight. Like a power hitter in baseball, but with no uppercut at all. This is one of the most important parts. An uppercut swing will make you hit the top of the ball. You will hit the ball on the ground and again snickers come from your friends.
1)keep your eyes on the golf ball at all times. In other words concentrate on that golf ball
2)swing the golf ball smoothly and straight at the golf ball. slightly moving your hips forward, but always straight. Moving your legs around or to the sides will do crazy things to the golf ball.
3)when you hit that golf ball, hit it straight on. Do not lift your club or try a baseball upper cut swing. If you do, it will kill your swing.
4)i’m taking into account your natural swing-you swing like you swing, but follow those three major tips. Trust me, your swing will change for the better
Remember, I am not a golf pro. I am a man who likes to look good at the golf range. I don’t like snickers or people pointing at me. When I hit the ball wrong, I hit it all over the place. My range varies from 50 yards to 200 yards, but I have no idea where the golf ball is going. On the other hand, when I follow my own three simple tips, I hit the golf ball straight and 250 yards consistently. Nobody snickers at me when I hit the golf ball the correct way.
When my six year old son listens to my tips, he has hit the golf ball nearly 100 yards and he is just a beginner.
Imagine what you could do.
If you are a golf pro and you don’t like my tips. That’s fine. However, if I see you at the driving range, you will not laugh at me. You will see me as I hit the ball straight for 250 yards consistently. You may scratch your head, but you will see it.

Swing Easy for golf

01313009134_100-0693.jpgSwing Smoothly

When I get a golf club in my hand, I get that feeling of wanting to knock the cover off the ball.  It feels good to put all of my strength into hitting the ball.  Just hitting the ball as hard as I can does not mean that I play good golf though.  If you just need to relieve a little stress, then swinging with all your strength may accomplish your goals.  However, if you want to play golf well, then you are going to have to hold back on the power a little.  One of the most frequent mistakes is to swing the golf club too hard.  A hard swing shows that you have power, but accuracy is the name of the game in golf.  You need to relax when you are swinging.  This will help you swing easily and will help to reduce your power.  If you put your feet closer together, then you can further reduce the strength of your swing.  Tensing up will also cause you to use too much effort.  Your center of gravity is also very important.  Keep your center of gravity the same and your head will stay still.  If you keep both of your feet in the same position throughout your swing, then your center of gravity will be stable.    If you jerk your body then your head will move and you will not be able to focus on the ball.  This can also change your center of gravity.  It is imperative that you keep your feet planted so that all your weight will be concentrated in your feet when you make contact with the ball.  Expending very little effort should be your goal.  If you hit the ball correctly, then it will feel smooth and easy.    Don’t tense up when you are about to make contact with the ball.  If you tense up, your balance will be thrown off.  You want the club head to travel in a straight line to make contact with the ball.  To help correct slicing, see how centered you can hit the ball with your club and how low you can send the ball.  If you send the ball too high, it gets into the wind and can go left or right on rough ground.  You want to only use the amount of power that you are able to control.  The goal of the game is not power, but accuracy.  You want to be able to control every facet of your swing so that you hit the ball cleanly and it goes where you want it to go.  The distance will come from your clean and correct swing, not how much power that you put into it.  You want to try to gradually increase your speed during your swing until you connect with the ball solidly.  If you do not have a smooth swing, then you are pulling your hands somewhere during the swing.  Keep your head as still as you would if you had a glass of water balanced on top of it.  This will help to improve your swing and help you to swing more smoothly and fluidly.  Swing at a decent enough speed to keep yourself from becoming tense and stiff.  Don’t swing too slowly or so hard that you feel the effort of the swing.  Stay relaxed.  Try to keep the idea of power out of your head.  Keeping your power under control so that you can be more accurate is what counts!
